About Us

Whitehill Publishing established in 1995 and became part of Just Services in 2004. This was a logical step, in order to have direct control of the publishing aspect of the work Just Services had begun to carry out. Just Services’ staff can, for instance, work with writers to develop their work to the best possible standards ready for publication, using their expertise as tutors for adults, and their knowledge and understanding of the barriers faced by some members of society.

Central to the work of Whitehill Publishing are the following principles:

  • To encourage, publish and promote the writing of people who may not have previously had their work published or may face specific barriers to doing so
  • To ensure that this does not mean any compromise in the quality of writing or publications
  • To ensure that we do not create unnecessary barriers to writers in terms of publishing
  • To work honestly and fairly with writers and others
  • To work in partnership with other organisations to produce publications of value to both organisations and to donate profit from these publications to charity where appropriate (eg Just Writers Whitehill Publishing 2004 – profits to mosaic: shaping disability services, a charity providing services for disabled people).
