Submission Guidelines

To maintain our ability to provide a reliable and responsive service to authors interested in submitting manuscripts to Whitehill Publishing, we have laid out some guidelines for submission and what you can expect from us.

  • We have a preliminary process of selection/deselection. In the first instance, we request that you send us a description of your manuscript on no more than 1xA4 sheet, including the type of work it is, eg poetry collection, and a brief outline of the content. For poetry or other collections, a sample of up to 4 poems/pieces can be enclosed. For a larger manuscript, a synopsis should be enclosed (no more than 4xA4 sheets). If you want us to return what you have sent to us once a decision has been made, you need to enclose an SAE bearing the correct amount of postage.
  • We will aim to look at this manuscript outline within one month and let you know if we are interested in seeing the full manuscript, or not. At this stage we are not making a definite commitment to publish your work.
  • If we ask to see your full manuscript, we will aim to look at it and make a decision regarding publishing within three months. If you want us to return your manuscript to you after this time, you need to send us an SAE bearing the correct postage.
  • We will not consider manuscripts that are currently under consideration elsewhere.
  • Whilst your manuscript is under consideration by us, you should not send it for consideration elsewhere.
  • If we accept your manuscript for publication, we will send you a formal contract.
  • To be fair to all, manuscripts will be considered by the Editorial Team in the order in which they are received. We will contact you in writing as soon as a decision has been made.
